Bravo Ko
Taiwan's Young Rebels
After I came across the magnificent photographs of Chih Hsien Chen from Taiwan some time ago, I now became aware of Bravo Ko, who not only lives in the same country and in the same city, but also acts in the same circle of friends. How great that is, such creative friends who do not presume anything on their skills, but simply immortalize their generation with powerful images.
Whenever I publish such photo series on my blog, and this has been going on for years, then some obscure critis always complain that this isn't art at all, but simply some hipster without any skills shooting around in the neighborhood and is then celebrated as the new Ryan McGinley. There would be nothing more boring and useless and predictable.
But I love this. I love these direct, unfiltered and intimate glimpses into young cultures around the world, all of which share a rebellious attitude. Whether they come from the United States, Europe, or even Asia. Bravo Ko and her friends are part of this movement. And as long as my blog exists, I will support this movement. No matter how.
