Yuta Toyoi
8-Bit Tokyo

Tokyo is at its most beautiful especially on a sunny, cloudless spring day. But often the true wonders of Japan's megametropolis unfold only when it rains, snows, or complete darkness descends upon the land and all manner of garish neon lights adorn the large and small streets of Shibuya, Akihabara, and Harajuku.

Japanese illustrator and pixel art artist Yuta Toyoi appreciates this special beauty and tells the small and big stories of the people living in Tokyo in his animated 8-bit works. A bumpy ride on the crowded subway, the intimate game between naughty pets, the nightly snack in one of the numerous ramen restaurants.

Currently, Yuta lives in seclusion with his three cats somewhere deep in the mountains of Kumano in Wakayama Prefecture. He doesn't particularly value human relationships, has an aversion to interviews, and loves the play of colors in his work. You can discover more of Yuta's work on his blog and support him financially on Patreon.
