Munich, 2006
Becca and I drove to Munich during the World Cup. The city was packed—flags hanging from buildings, horns everywhere, a kind of noise and energy I’d never felt before. We bought team shirts and moved through the crowds, caught the heat and the chaos of it.
What stays with me is the sound—the constant horns, the bars spilling onto the streets, the sense that the whole place was paying attention to the same thing at once. For those few weeks, you could feel part of something massive just by being there.
