Harry And The Potters
Just finished the first Harry Potter book. Yeah, I know everyone else got there first. The prose isn’t fancy, and I don’t think it’s trying to be. It’s just fun following this nerdy kid around Hogwarts, the kind of book that keeps you reading past when you planned to stop.
Being in the UK while reading it, you’d pass some old building and think, that’s where this happens. The author grounded it in actual places, which makes it weirder and better.
Hermione and Ron are what makes it work. They feel like actual people—they have their own friction, they’re separate from Harry’s gravity. That’s the work that makes you genuinely care what happens to them.
I’d read anything with those two now.
