Keep Looking

2009 started as a complete shitstorm—economy imploding, terror in the news, everything serious broken. But I wasn’t going to let that stop what I cared about. My response was to start paying closer attention, not less.

I decided this year would be about design, fashion, music, freaks, weird culture—noticing what actually interested me and writing about it honestly, with personality, without pretending to be some respectable magazine. Just saying what I thought.

That felt important enough to do with someone else. I brought back a collaborator because the mission mattered: keep looking at the strange and beautiful stuff, write about it truthfully, without the corporate distance.

The world could fall apart. Design and music would still happen. That was worth paying attention to.
