I somehow never wrote about Chris Heads here, and that’s a real gap. The guy is a photographer. Shot for Vanity Fair, Elle, Glamour. Photographed Kylie Minogue, Kelis, Devon Aoki. Works between Milan and Paris, represented by New Blood.

What catches me about his work is how direct it is. He shoots women without any of the usual editorial tricks—no imposed style, no theory, just absolute clarity about what he’s seeing and how to get it on film. That takes a specific kind of vision. Most photographers can execute technique. He has real taste.

He likes hip hop, ice cream, and sunshine. I like that this is his biography. Not some carefully crafted brand statement, just what he actually cares about. It shows in the work. There’s no straining, no trying to prove anything, just a photographer doing what he’s good at.

Should’ve covered this years ago. One of those oversights you find in your own archive and you just have to own it. Here it is now.
