Pretty in Pink

Fashion Week in Berlin just wrapped. Feed’s suddenly full of teenagers in whatever caught their eye on some Swedish style blog months ago. Most of it’s garbage. But there are always a few worth looking at.

Olivia: Seventeen from California. She’s got it. Vintage pieces that actually work—Electronic Love Letter bag, Gas D necklace, Spanish Moss Vintage dress. Not aesthetic chaos, just pieces that go together and the confidence to stop. That’s all style is.

Eszter: Vienna, very pregnant, and making that the centerpiece. Topshop earrings, Zara vest, oversized dress. What gets me is the complete lack of apology—not hiding it, not minimizing it, just laying it out. There’s something sexy about that kind of confidence.

Alternative-Justin: Real Justin Bieber is something I don’t think about. This version from Fatale Femmes is at least tolerable. Good vest. That’s the whole thing.

Camille: Twenty-two from London. Topshop, Asos necklace, American Apparel. There’s nothing complicated here. Just proportions and confidence and the right shoes, and somehow that makes you notice. That’s the trick with style.

Olof: Sixteen from Sweden. Comes across as deliberately weird at first—the pose, the performance. But the actual clothes are good. MTWTFSS Weekday, Beyond Retro, Chanel bag. Kid’s got better taste than most adults. When they drop the act, it’ll all click.
