The Stepkids operate in this space where almost nobody else is working—absurdist, committed, making stuff that shouldn’t connect but does because they believe in it completely. There’s something I respect about that. Building something for the people who are actually listening, not performing for some imagined mass audience. You spend enough time on the margins and you stop caring if you’re a legend to anyone but yourself. Maybe that’s where the best stuff comes from anyway.
