Jerry Hsu: Nazi Gold

Jerry Hsu’s work—his videos, photographs, graphics—all come from the same place. He doesn’t perform or gesture at meaning. He just watches what’s there and figures out how to show it. That’s a skater’s understanding of space and light and timing: you learn to track movement and see where things work. Once that’s in you, it colors everything. His work has that quality—clean attention, no showing off, just the thinking made visible. You get the sense he’s always working something out rather than explaining something he’s already solved.
