Deerhoof: Secret Mobilization

Deerhoof never made sense to me the first time I heard them, which is probably why I kept coming back. Satomi Matsuzaki’s voice is doing something I couldn’t quite track, the rest of the band moving in shapes that shouldn’t work but somehow do. They’ve been around long enough to have completely ignored every trend, every pressure to make something more palatable or easier to categorize. I respect that kind of commitment to not giving a shit what anyone expects from you.
