Bloc Party: Kettling

Bloc Party’s sound was all coiled claustrophobia—jagged guitars, Kele’s voice tight and sharp like he’s trying to break through something. Kettling is what they call it when police trap you in a box with no exit, just pressure and bodies and nowhere to go. Their music had that same compressed, frantic energy, that feeling of being caught and the panic that comes with it.
