Getting Fatter

Everyone knows it. Science says it, TV says it, your mom sends panicked emails. Everyone’s getting fatter. Delivery instead of the walk, sitting instead of moving, sugar water instead of anything requiring effort.

Jamie Lee Curtis Taete made work about this—not a threat, just what she was watching. What comes next when bodies get bigger: sex redistributing, beauty spreading across shapes and sizes that used to be invisible.

No moral angle in her drawings, no panic—just plain documentation of the shift. This is what it looks like. And honestly, that’s easier to sit with than the anxiety that assumes we can stop it. We can’t. So why fight it.
