Grimes: Strange

Grimes showed up when electronic music was getting soft. Her work was abrasive, sometimes difficult to listen to, and she didn’t care. The videos weren’t designed to make you comfortable or like her. That refusal to play nice meant something, even when the songs themselves didn’t grab me.
