Florence And The Machine
I used to think Florence Welch’s music was too much—all that drama and orchestration, the voice always at full volume, never letting you breathe. Then I stopped thinking about it as restraint and just let it happen. There’s something in the way she commits to feeling that makes sense in a way I can’t quite explain. Not everyone needs to stay in control. Some people just need to get it out, and she figured out how to do that at a scale that actually matches the size of what’s inside. The music hits different when you stop waiting for it to be subtle.
