If I had to pick one time period in Japanese music, it would be the turn of the millennium. Sure, 70s jazz is amazing, 80s city pop is a dream, and modern bands deliver too, but everything from the late nineties through the very early 2000s makes my little nerdy heart beat faster. One of my favorite artists from that era is Ami Suzuki, with her debut album SA from 1999. A year earlier, All Night Long came out - simply a banger.
