The End Is Nigh
Disaster movies are my guilty pleasure. As long as an overwhelming threat looms to wipe out humanity, all of society's rules get swept away in an instant, and there's supposedly no way out, I'm in. That's why I watched Greenland yesterday. In it, an apocalyptic asteroid hurtles toward Earth, and Gerard Butler has to get his family to safety from it. Unfortunately, the story has been told in exactly this form a thousand times before and offers absolutely nothing new, the protagonists outdo each other scene after scene with their idiotic decisions, and the unrealistic ending paves the way for what's probably the most unnecessary sequel in film history.
