To keep myself from sinking completely into obscure cultural niches, I sometimes force myself to consume works that don't really interest me but whose impact on society is hard to ignore. K-Pop Demon Hunters is one of those phenomena. Ultra-colorful, ultra-popular, ultra-successful. Rumi, Mira, and Zoey try to protect the world from evil, with their singing. One day a mysterious boy band shows up in town, and suddenly people start disappearing. Can the brave girls get to the bottom of the mystery? I now understand why K-Pop Demon Hunters became such a hit and why its soundtrack stayed at the top of my friends' charts for so long. The film is incredibly fun, the energy is almost overwhelming, and the characters are deep and interesting. On top of that, the songs haven't left my head since. We're gonna be, gonna be golden.
