I guess not many of you know where, what, or why Koenji is. It's a district of Tokyo, located right in the middle of Suginami, which you can find on the Western end of Shinjuku. Around 1980, quite a lot of apartment buildings were set up there, which caused the number of stores, bars, and cafes to skyrocket. Today you can find cute little stores in Suginami, as an alternative to the hustle and bustle of Shibuya, Akihabara, or Shimokitazawa.
If you want a shopping experience with a difference, I recommend Kiki, a pink, cute vintage store with all sorts of sweet treasures and even cuter employees. Here you'll find plenty of Barbie merch, hot streetwear, and long-forgotten retro gear of the highest order. Everything is so colorful that even unicorns get gasps.
But it's not just clothes you'll find at Kiki. You can also pick up stickers, backpacks, figurines, and cuddly toys there. The funky retro style will immediately captivate you, regardless of whether you like cute things or not. Where could there be such a store, if not in the middle of Tokyo? Exactly. So book your ticket, get on a plane, and just go! The sweetest shop in the whole wide world is just waiting for you...
