Millennium Parade
Anarchists From Tokyo

The self-titled debut album of the Japanese band Millennium Parade is on repeat since release on my phone. After all, there are only absolute bangers on there. Bon Dance? Great! Fly With Me? Stunning! Familia? Fabulous! Just the genre is difficult to explain, because Millennium Parade simply throw everything available, such as pop, hip hop, electro, dance, rock, funk, jazz and rap, into a pot, stir vigorously and then slap the motley mash against the wall.

The project was created entirely along the lines of the chaotic music from Tokyo, founder Daiki Tsuneta, who is also part of the successful band King Gnu, explains to the online magazine Spincoaster. I wanted to create a mix of different sounds, genres and the best artists the city has to offer. The band aims to bring together talented people from all forms of art.

Millennium Parade impresses not only with modern songs for modern people, but also with a rarely seen visual presentation. The group's videos as well as performances are bursting with outlandish ideas and craftsmanship. And I can hardly wait to finally hold the new record of the Japanese collective in my hands, if it may ever be released.
