Outland Can Wait
The World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade beta key arrived after more than a week of waiting, and I’m selling it. That’s the whole story, mostly—I waited, it came, now someone else will use it.
The expansion looked like everything it was supposed to be: Blood Elves giving the Horde something prettier to look at, the ruined landscape of Outland opening up as a new continent, flying mounts, a raised level cap, the whole machinery of a game designed to eat your months running at full speed again. January 2007 was the release target, and for the version of me that existed not that long ago, the beta running until then would have been a complete sentence.
But tuition doesn’t pay for itself, and a beta key has real value to someone who wants it more than I do right now. The Shattered World isn’t going anywhere. Blood Elves will still be beautiful in January. Some things you should only start when you can actually finish them.
