Something Broke in My Hometown
About a week ago, a 33-year-old Turkish woman was stabbed to death by her husband in Buchloe—the small Bavarian town where I grew up. Since yesterday it’s turned into something worse: a full-scale family war, factions against factions, the kind of thing a quiet market town isn’t supposed to know how to contain. The local press isn’t covering it. I understand the instinct to keep the lid on, but the silence has its own weight.
I just hope it ends before someone else gets hurt.
