The Longest Internet Party
Giga went dark today. For anyone who wasn’t watching German television in the early 2000s, Giga was this extraordinary thing—a live TV show about the internet, gaming, and nerd culture that ran for hours every day and somehow made all of it feel like a party you were actually invited to. Giga Green was the name of their studio, which might as well have been a second home. The longest internet party in the world, they called it, and for once that wasn’t hyperbole.
We followed the G. That was the slogan, and I actually meant it. Goodbye, Giga Green. I’ll miss you more than I expected to miss a TV show.
