The Part That Comes After

Rebecca and I ended things after almost two and a half years together. And it’s fine—genuinely fine. We promised each other we’d stay close, stay real friends, maybe even get to know each other better now that the relationship weight is gone. What’s behind us is a stretch of time that was genuinely good. What comes next, hopefully, is a friendship worth having: real conversations, easy company, and hot wet friendship sex. I tell every friend going through a breakup the same thing—a split doesn’t have to be the permanent end. Who knows what the future looks like. And as a wise man once asked: where are the whores?
