December 8th Can’t Come Soon Enough

All good people should be as excited as I am: Nintendo was bringing the Wii to Europe on December 8th, and after years of watching Sony and Microsoft wage a spec war nobody really won, the idea of a weird little white box you’d wave around like an idiot felt genuinely exciting. My favorite childhood company, back in the game for real.

Mostly what I was thinking about was the return of all-night Super Smash Bros. sessions—the kind that start after dinner and end when someone notices the sky getting light. Wild hours lost inside The Legend of Zelda and fat Mario doing whatever fat Mario does. What more could a giant child like me want? First I need a job to actually afford the 250-euro thing. I barely spend money on anything else, so I’ll figure it out.
