Vegetable Flavour

Ninety-nine cents for an organic basil plant at the discount store—big, green, improbably vigorous, standing in a bin between the fruit and the vegetables. I was there with Becca, who was paralyzed by the cookie aisle, so I wandered and found it. Some things you just have to adopt.

I also picked up a four-pack of Mì Kim Chi instant noodles by Acecook. Vegetable flavour, obviously, since I’ve gone vegetarian. These were everywhere about five years ago—not just among broke students but genuinely fashionable for a moment. Cheap and good in a specific way that more expensive things rarely manage. Nice to have them back in the cupboard.

Ninety-nine cents apiece. Good afternoon.
