Four From Paris
The Plastiscines were four women from Paris making garage punk that sounded like it was recorded in someone’s basement for a reason. Stripped back, fast, with a bite their French contemporaries were missing—they pulled from The Ramones and The Runaways and didn’t pretend otherwise. Their early recordings had that urgency only found in a band’s first phase, before someone suggests a producer who "really gets your sound." I played their stuff on repeat that summer, volume high.
