What October Sounds Like

Autumn arrived and immediately made itself at home. That particular Berlin grey that settles in early October—not dramatic, just relentless—and the only honest response is putting on the right music and waiting it out.

This week’s mix runs from Robyn doing what she always does (which is make you feel things you hadn’t scheduled), through Jack’s Mannequin’s orchestral emo that genuinely sounds better in cold weather than warm, to Spangle call Lilli line, a Japanese post-rock trio I’ve been obsessing over lately—all shimmer and restraint, the kind of band that sounds like it’s being played in the next room on purpose. There’s also a cover of a Disney classic on there that I find absolutely hilarious, and I’ll leave it at that.

Autumn deserves a good playlist. This one’s mine.
