Good Bones, Dumb Name
Finding a decent online RPG on Mac when you’re done with World of Warcraft turns out to be harder than it sounds. I’d mostly given up when I landed on Dofus—and yeah, the name sounds like something a toddler made up, but the game underneath it is genuinely charming. Clean illustrated art style, warm palette, the kind of visual care you don’t expect from a browser-based MMO. The turn-based combat has that Final Fantasy rhythm where every move is a small decision. I was in immediately.
I picked a warrior from the twelve available races, named her Sinami, and spent a good chunk of the afternoon running her through quests and monster fights. It’s free in the base version, available on all three platforms, and it hasn’t asked me to do anything I’ve resented yet. Those are low bars, but after World of Warcraft, low bars feel like victories.
