Hillary Raindeer shoots out of Portland, and her Flickr is exactly what I mean when I say I want to look at photographs. Not technically flawless, not conceptually dense—just genuinely, unmistakably alive. There’s something in the framing that feels like actual attention being paid, like someone who’s always looking for the right place at the right moment because that’s just how they move through the world.

A rainy Tuesday is a good day to find something like this. You know the kind—gray, slow, the kind of afternoon where everything feels a little wasted. Then you land on a photostream that makes the world briefly legible again. That’s the function good photography serves, and she nails it.
