Overhyped, and Worth Every Second

Time To Pretend by MGMT is objectively overhyped and I don’t care. It’s one of those songs that hits a switch—whatever the day’s been doing to you, whatever gray wet mess is falling outside the window, the opening synth lands and the mood just shifts. The New York hype machine got to them early and probably burned some of the goodwill, but the song itself survives all of that. It’s been on permanent rotation on my iPod and I’m not remotely sorry.
