The Song That Makes February Bearable

There’s a specific type of song for a specific type of day—the kind where it’s snowing sideways, the wind is doing something personal against you, and the idea of leaving the apartment feels like a punishment you’ve earned. Shiny Toy Guns wrote that song. "You Are The One" has no business being as good as it is, and the band’s name alone earns them permanent goodwill—you hear "Shiny Toy Guns" and something in your brain relaxes, like being handed a well-made object you didn’t know you needed.

It makes me colder just listening to it, which is either a flaw or a feature depending on how much you enjoy leaning into misery. I lean into misery. Spring can’t get here fast enough, but until it does, at least there’s this.
