Sally Potter’s Film Will Be Fine
Most supermodels have the presence of furniture—blank, thin, designed to hold other things up. Lily Cole is the exception that makes the whole category look embarrassing. The red hair, the enormous dark eyes, the face that looks like it was lifted directly from a Pre-Raphaelite painting and then given a personality to go with it. She’s twenty, she’s English, she models and acts and also serves as ambassador for the humanitarian organization Global Angels, which makes the rest of us look extremely efficient at wasting our time.
She’s in Sally Potter’s Rage, which screened at Berlinale 2009. I have no real idea what the film is about, and I’ve realized I don’t need to. Lily Cole is in it. That’s sufficient.
