Three Times Running

Nothing about Manicure makes sense as a recommendation. I don’t know the singer’s name, don’t know where they’re from—though everyone on the video’s credits has a Russian-sounding name, so somewhere in that vicinity, I’d guess. The song is called "Another Girl" and it’s textbook post-punk in a British mode, the kind of thing that sounds recorded in a damp practice space with a Cure poster on the wall. Normally that description alone would be enough to make me move on.

I’ve played it three times back to back now. That’s the only review that actually matters—you know it when something gets its hooks in before you’ve even decided whether you like it. I still don’t entirely know if I like it. I just keep pressing play.
