Vice Does Fashion and I Hate That I Care

Every year Vice Magazine puts out its fashion issue, and every year I go through the same ritual: roll my eyes, click through the whole thing anyway, feel vaguely implicated. This year’s edition holds steady on the hate-love dial.

There are women in bikinis looking appropriately devastating, a fashion witches shoot that commits fully to its own premise, and a quietly lovely series featuring Amy Wesson, who has a face that photographs like it belongs in a different century. Cintia Dicker is in there too, and she remains one of those people the camera simply cannot ignore. There’s also a shoot featuring a naked model billed as Hugo who looks like she arrived from a parallel timeline, which is the kind of sentence Vice makes you write. They also ran a piece comparing fashion in Berlin and London—I read it earnestly and will take that to my grave.

Fashion rulez.
