They’re Doing It Better

The internet moves fast. Yesterday this journal was the underground tip, the thing your brain-fried aunt warned you about. Today I’ve found proof it’s been doing everything wrong—or at least that someone else is doing it better.

Their blog is called Sexdrugsblognroll. lia.R and mannfRed run it out of Mannheim—their parents clearly harbored some grudge when naming them—and they write about Top Model and social media brain damage and the actual texture of being alive with a filthy wit and genuine affection for their subjects. They give away clothes. They podcast. They have exactly the right ratio of contempt to delight. I’m jealous in the specific, deflating way you get jealous when someone does the thing you were trying to do and does it demonstrably better.

Go there instead. Genuinely. Close this tab and paste their URL in its place. Since nobody’s reading this anymore anyway, I’m off to find lia.R—then probably the zoo. Hannah can have mannfRed; she’s been looking.
