Noot Seear, Left Alone in the Frame

Danish photographers Barbara Hvidt and Jan Gleie shot Noot Seear for a series titled Home Alone, and the concept suits her particular quality as a subject. Seear has always had something slightly removed about her—a stillness, a suggestion that she’s present in a room without being quite of it. Left to herself in front of a lens with no narrative to play out, that quality becomes the whole subject. Hvidt and Gleie know how to get out of the way of a face that has something to say.
