Spaghetti Cat appeared in 2009 when a live morning talk show was interrupted by footage of a cat eating spaghetti, for reasons that were never satisfactorily explained. The internet did what it does: made the cat famous. Justin Bieber was already famous by the same general mechanism. That someone combined the two into a TV series concept says everything and nothing about what the internet was in 2010—a place where the most logical next move was always exactly this unhinged.
