Hang With Me
Robyn released "Hang With Me" as part of Body Talk Pt. 1 in 2010, and it does what her best songs always do—catches you dancing and then quietly breaks your heart. The ask in the title is deliberately small. Not love, not forever, not anything you’d have to promise. Just: stay. Just: be here. The production swells around that ask and suddenly it isn’t small at all.
She also released an acoustic version the same year, and stripped of the drums it hits even harder. Robyn has always been more precise than pop needs to be, more emotionally honest than the format usually allows. "Hang With Me" works on a dancefloor and in the dark at 3am with headphones—a very specific and difficult thing to pull off. She makes it look inevitable.
