Fast, Cheap, and Somehow Right

Bleeding Knees Club came out of Brisbane making lo-fi garage punk that sounds like it was tracked in a bathroom on dying batteries, which I mean entirely as a compliment. Teenage Girls is exactly what it sounds like—fast, sloppy, a little dumb, with that particular Australian quality where aggression and self-deprecation become indistinguishable from each other. There’s something honest about a band who look like they should be doing homework and instead make songs that sound like this: too much reverb, not enough rehearsal, the right amount of contempt for the idea of polish.
