All the Way Out There
Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley, the duo who record as Tennis, wrote their debut album Cape Dory while actually living on a sailboat—which explains a lot about how their music feels. Deep in the Woods has the same quality the whole record has: sun-bleached, unhurried, built around a 60s girl-group pop sensibility that’s been left out in the salt air long enough to soften at the edges. It sounds like distance. Like being somewhere the phone doesn’t work.
