Nowhere in Particular

Fernando Tsuchiya works in the space between identities—Lima-born, of Japanese descent, making images that belong to both worlds and fully to neither. His series Somewhere And Nowhere lives in that hyphen: photographs that feel simultaneously familiar and unplaceable, rooted in a specific geography but refusing to be fixed there. You look at them and can’t locate the before. That irreducible uncertainty is the whole point.
