Lele Saveri’s world—the 8BALL zine, the photographs, the whole Brooklyn energy of it—has always felt like it belongs to the people in it rather than to anyone observing from outside. His work finds New York youth culture at its most unselfconscious, which is a harder trick than it looks. A frame with Brandee Brown in the city is that instinct in action: two people, the street behind them, something passing between them that the camera just happens to catch.
