What Moni Haworth Finds in the Dark

Moni Haworth’s Welcome to the Darklands sits exactly where her photography is most at home: in the space between beauty and unease, images drained of natural warmth and filled with something colder instead. The darkness in her work never feels decorative—it’s structural, more like a decision about what to withhold than a mood to establish. Looking at photographs like these makes me want to return to my own work and ask what I’ve been too comfortable leaving in the light.
