Gym Baggers
I’ve spent the last twenty minutes—maybe more—wondering if I’ve ever been to a gym where someone like Boy Child moves through the space. And I can say, almost without exaggeration, that I haven’t.
I probably would have bolted in panic at first, only to return moments later, cheeks flushed, heart racing, utterly captivated, ready to ask for her hand. She embodies a rare combination of strength and beauty. She swings from punching bags with a casual audacity, wears gloves on her feet like armor, and allows herself to be bound against the graffiti-strewn walls with black duct tape. If that doesn’t speak to you, there’s nothing more I can do.
This striking vision was captured by photographer Kevin Amato, brought to life through the styling of House of Malakai and Mary Lee, with production overseen by Chris Kutlesa. Assisting behind the scenes were Prince Homme and Kiddy Drown, and the magnetic presence of Boy Child completes the composition. Published by Twisted Lamb, the work lingers in my memory long after I’ve moved on.
