Right Before the Evidence Arrives

The Vaccines make guitar music that sounds like it was recorded in a hurry on purpose—all urgency and clatter, vocals half-buried because the guitars have somewhere to be. I Always Knew fits that template exactly. It’s from Come of Age, their second record, and the song is about that specific dread of knowing something is wrong before the proof shows up—being right in a way you’d much rather be wrong about. The Vaccines dress it in noise and move on quickly, which is probably the correct response.
