October 2012 was when Natasha Khan put out The Haunted Man under the Bat For Lashes name, and Letting Go of Ghosts sits in that same season—Bat For Lashes operating in her usual space between folk ritual and art-pop formalism, patient and layered, the kind of music that dissolves at the edges into something that sounds like an old sorrow finally being set down. Not resolved. Just released.
