A photo feature called Cameron Forever—and the title makes a kind of sense. Diaz at forty in 2012 had already outlasted the usual arc for actresses of her generation: The Mask to There’s Something About Mary to a long middle stretch that looked like stardom doing what it usually does to women in Hollywood, and didn’t. Whatever this shoot captured, she looked like someone who knew exactly how long she’d been doing this and had stopped pretending to be surprised by any of it.
