The Almond and the Swing
There’s something aggressively retro about Disaronno—the squat rectangular bottle, the almond sweetness that hits before you even open it, the way a single pour makes everything smell like marzipan. The "It’s A Swing Thing" campaign leaned into that vintage mood, wrapping the liqueur in a swing-era aesthetic that was really selling nostalgia more than alcohol. Which, to be fair, is what most spirits marketing does. I have a complicated relationship with amaretto: too sweet on its own, but genuinely good in a sour where all that almond sugar has something to push against.
