"Here With Me" is the quieter side of Battle Born—The Killers in a less urgent mood, Brandon Flowers letting the melody find its own pace instead of pushing it somewhere large. The album came out in September 2012 and split people down predictable lines: those who wanted another Hot Fuss were disappointed, those willing to follow the band into their melodramatic Americana phase had plenty to sit with. This track in particular felt calibrated for late December, which is probably why it lodged where it did. Some songs just know what season they belong to.
