Pink as Armor

John Hughes understood something about pink that most people spend years arguing about instead of accepting: it’s not a delicate color, it’s a confrontational one. Andie Walsh in Pretty in Pink, sewing that prom dress out of salvaged fabric, wearing it into a room full of people who expected her to disappear—that’s pink as a statement of intent. The looks here operate on the same logic. Hot pink against winter skin, powder pink worn with something deliberately abrasive, fuchsia treated as though it were a neutral. None of it apologetic.
